On 12 September 1956 established an insurance company named PT. Maskapai Buana Insurance. These insurance companies engaged in general insurance. In 1981 Astra Internasional bought PT. Maskapai Buana Insurance shares and become the largest shareholder, with ownership reached 60%. And finally, in 1990, PT. Maskapai Buana Insurance changed its name to PT. Astra Buana Insurance or Astra Insurance.
